Video wall TVs or direct-view LED
LCD vs LED video wall: which one for your space
An LCD video wall is a grid of thin-bezel commercial panels: a 2×2, a 3×3. A direct-view LED wall is a single bezel-free surface built from cabinets. The LCD wall is far cheaper up to about 110 to 130 inches. Above that, or wherever a seam through a face is unacceptable, LED is the only option.

2×2, 3×3 and the 4 TV video wall
The 2×2 is the workhorse. Four 55-inch panels make a 110-inch image, which is right at the size where LED starts to make sense, so it's the point to run both numbers. L'Occitane runs 2×2 walls in its standard boutiques.
A 3×3 of 55s is 165 inches and about 12 feet wide, $36,000 to $38,700 installed. L'Occitane runs these in flagships, including Aventura Mall. At this size, a P3 to P4 LED wall of the same area (about 81 sq ft) is $40,500 to $72,900, so for walls viewed from 10+ feet the two are closer in price than most people expect.
Mixed-size flagship builds are their own category. Victoria's Secret on Fifth Avenue runs 15 Samsung 98 and 85-inch displays in five synchronized clusters of three; budgets for builds like that run $40,000 to $120,000.

Our rule of thumb
Up to 98 inches: one commercial LCD panel. 98 to about 130 inches: an LCD 2×2, unless seams are a dealbreaker. 130 inches and up, or anything curved or oddly shaped: LED, with the pitch set by your closest viewer. Common questions
LCD vs LED questions
What's a video wall made of TVs?
Usually it's a tiled LCD wall: two, four or nine commercial panels built for video walls, with very thin bezels and a processor or player that splits one image across them. Regular TVs have thick bezels and aren't rated for the hours, so the seams look wide and they age unevenly.
How much does a 2×2 video wall cost?
About $16,000 to $17,200 all-in for four 55-inch commercial panels with CrownTV, which gives a 110-inch picture. As hardware only, a Samsung VM55B video-wall panel is listed at $2,049 each at DisplayDetails.
What's a 4 TV video wall vs one big screen?
Four 55s make a 110-inch image with thin seams; a single 98-inch has no seams and costs $9,950 installed with us. If 98 inches is big enough, we'd usually pick the single panel.
Is an LED video wall better than a TV?
An LED video wall beats a TV only when you need a picture bigger than one screen can make, roughly over 98 inches, or one with no seams, because a single 98-inch commercial LCD is $9,950 installed while LED starts around $500 per square foot. Below 98 inches, one commercial display is the cheaper, simpler choice. Between 98 and about 130 inches, an LCD 2×2 is usually next.
When is LED worth the extra money?
When the wall has to be bigger than about 110 to 130 inches with no seams, when it needs to be an odd shape or curved, or when it's the brand's centerpiece and seams through a face or logo aren't acceptable.
Do LCD video walls need a special processor?
A 2×2 or 3×3 of Samsung video-wall panels can be configured to show one picture across the grid. Bigger or mixed-size walls use an external processor. Either way, content should be built for the wall's real aspect ratio.
