LED video walls: all-in-one, custom cabinets and kits

There are three ways to buy an LED video wall: an all-in-one preset like Samsung's The Wall 146", a custom wall of LED video wall panels built to your exact size, or a hardware kit you put up yourself. They can differ by six figures for a similar-looking result. Here's which one fits which job.

Prices from DisplayDetails listings and CrownTV's LED cost data, set October 2, 2026. Custom dvLED at 146" in cabinet form typically runs $200,000+, which is why the all-in-one usually wins when it fits.

Samsung The Wall

The All-in-One 146" is 127 × 71.6 inches, about 10.6 × 6 feet, and 1.9 inches deep. Peak brightness is 1,600 nits on the 4K and 1,400 on the 2K, with a 3,840 Hz refresh that's safe on camera. It's rated for 16 hours a day and 150,000 hours of LED life, and comes with a 3-year Samsung commercial warranty. Indoor, climate-controlled spaces only, with no direct sun on the panel.

The 4K (0.84 mm) stays sharp at arm's length. The 2K (P1.68) is for walls seen from 10+ feet and costs under half as much. If the space can take a 146" preset, price this first; a custom wall has to beat it fully costed, not on cabinet price alone.

LG and the rest of the field

LG competes with MAGNIT micro-LED at the top and a deep dvLED range below it. Planar, part of the Leyard family, is the fine-pitch specialist many US lobbies shortlist. Barco and Christie lead control rooms and venues, Daktronics leads outdoor and stadium, NanoLumens builds custom curves and columns. Absen and Unilumin are the volume makers behind many integrator-branded walls; with them, you're really buying the integrator's service.

LED video wall panels for custom walls

Custom walls are built from cabinets, commonly 600 × 337.5 mm at fine pitch, so the final size is a whole number of cabinets. The panels themselves are close to commodity at a given pitch; what separates a good custom wall from a bad one is structure, processing, calibration and who answers when a module dies.

Our minimum requirements on any custom LED video wall quote: per-square-foot price, line items for structure, power, processor and install, 5 to 10% batch-matched spares, refresh rate stated, and a named support path. How LED panels and pitch work.

Why kits are cheaper

A 10 × 5 ft P2.9 kit at $11,000 to $15,000 is about $220 to $300 per square foot, roughly a quarter of an installed P2.5 wall. The difference is everything that makes a permanent wall work: engineered structure, dedicated circuits, alignment, calibration and service. For a wall that goes up on Sunday and comes down Monday, a kit is fine. For a lobby wall on 12 hours a day, it isn't.

Under 110 inches? Don't buy any of these

A single 98-inch commercial LCD is $9,950 installed with CrownTV, and a 2×2 LCD wall of 55-inch panels is about $16,000 to $17,200. Below roughly 110 to 130 inches, either one beats any LED option on cost. LCD vs LED in detail. For walls in houses of worship, see the church LED wall guide.

Common questions

LED video wall questions

What is an LED video wall?

An LED video wall is a large screen built from direct-view LED cabinets instead of LCD panels, where every pixel is its own light, so there are no bezels, the wall can be any size or shape, and a failed section is swapped as a module rather than a whole screen.

How do LED video walls work?

An LED video wall works by tiling cabinets of LED modules edge to edge, where each pixel is a cluster of red, green and blue LEDs, and a processor takes one video signal, splits it across every cabinet and keeps brightness and color matched across the whole wall. Content comes from a media player or presentation software like ProPresenter, the same as any display.

COB vs SMD LED video wall: what's the difference?

SMD walls mount each red, green and blue LED package on the surface of the module, while COB (chip on board) bonds the bare LED chips straight to the board under a protective coating, which makes the face tougher to knock and suits very fine pitch, so ask for both at the same pitch and compare. At the coarse pitches most lobbies and sanctuaries need, SMD is the more common build. Judge the bid on pitch, refresh rate, spares and support, not the acronym.

How much does a micro LED wall cost?

A micro-pitch LED wall at P0.9 to P1.2 runs about $2,500 to $4,000+ per square foot installed, and the best-known preset, Samsung's The Wall All-in-One 146" at 0.84 mm, is $159,999 display only at DisplayDetails, before structure, power, content and commissioning. Most rooms don't need it: micro pitch only pays off when people stand within about 3 to 4 feet of the wall.

How much is Samsung The Wall?

The Wall All-in-One 146" is $159,999 for the 4K 0.84 mm version and $73,999 for the 2K P1.68 version at DisplayDetails, display only. Budget structure, power, content and commissioning on top. Custom The Wall cabinet configurations are quoted per project.

Which version of The Wall 146" should I buy?

If anyone will read it from closer than about 10 feet (a reception desk, a boardroom table, a camera), the 4K. If it's viewed across a lobby, the 2K P1.68 looks the same at under half the price.

What are the best LED video wall brands?

Samsung, LG and Planar are the brands most US lobbies shortlist for fine-pitch indoor LED, with Barco and Christie strong in control rooms and venues, Daktronics in outdoor and stadium boards and NanoLumens in custom curves, so the best one is the bid that wins at the same pitch, warranty and spares terms. We're a Samsung Authorized Reseller, so weigh our view accordingly.

Can The Wall run 24/7?

The All-in-One 146" is rated for 16 hours a day. If you truly need 24/7 playback, ask for a 24/7-rated product; some of Samsung's LCD lines carry that rating.

How long until a wall is live?

For The Wall All-in-One: 1 to 2 weeks for survey and structural review, 2 to 4 weeks for mount fabrication if needed, 1 to 2 days to hang, half a day of acceptance testing. Roughly 4 to 7 weeks from purchase order.
